Two boys, two dogs, and luck on a rural road
Abandoned on a country road, two pups sat alone. One was tan, the other black. Where they came from, no one knew.
It just so happened on that day, that two boys would walk their way. They scooped them up and began to head home, each with a puppy of their own.
The boys sat down with the pups in the middle of their yard, and began to become acquainted. “Where did you come from? I hope you can stay. Isn’t this so much fun!”
As thrilled as the boys were with their furry friends, they knew the pups might not be able to stay. Dogs require time, funds, care, and much responsibility. They also required a parent’s okay.
It wasn’t too long before the boys’ mom came outside to see what her sons had found. The pups looked adoringly at her two sons, and they looked lovingly back. She knew then what those puppies fate would be. They had found a home for all eternity.
After all, boys need a dog as much as dogs need a boy to love and explore and play.
And so, the boys took care of those pups, feeding them, teaching them, loving them. The pups grew and all became the best of friends, exploring the creek, working on the farm, and going on truck rides.
And I wonder…I wonder if they realize how lucky each of them are. The pups for finding a home and the boys for finding a friendship without end.
Because through luck, God’s timing and a parent’s okay, they are all best of friends today.
My brothers found two puppies on a rural road by my family’s home in Eastern North Carolina. Our family had recently lost two senior dogs, so finding these two pups seemed like it was meant to be. The boys named the puppies Kya and Chapel (Chapel was after the road they were found on—Jordan’s Chapel). Originally, we thought the pups were heavily shepherd influenced, but as they grew, they seemed to have more beagle in them. Thanks to a DNA test, we discovered that they are 52% Labrador, 25% Beagle, 17% German Shepherd, and the rest is a menagerie. What the DNA test didn’t need to tell us, was these girls are 100% loved.
These are some of my favorite photos of my brothers. It didn’t take long. It wasn’t overly posed. It was just them and their dogs. Take the pics because time is fleeting. And, if you need help with those pics, I specialize in capturing the authentic moments. :)
